Those of you who have taken our classes know that the Fire Groove four did not have any specific teachers to lead us on our spinning paths. We learned by trial and error, each other, and by all the amazing spinners that came across our paths... We are students of many, many teachers and of this we are so grateful. We immediately started to see the benefits of spinning and learning from as many amazing teachers as we could, which is why we continue to host workshops for some of the most talented spinners in the world. This is such a gift to us, to the spinning community, and to these beautiful creative beings that have turned fire dancing, poi spinning, staff manipulation, hoop dance, contact juggling and all of the other magical flow arts into their livelihood. We are able to live our dream because of you who support us and in turn we are able to support you and other teachers... and the circle goes around and around, just like the tools we spin.

In November we had the honor of Dai Zaobab join us all the way from Japan by way of South Africa and share Buugang, the mesmerizing S shaped staves that are spun like liquid. Dai's energy in and out of class was contagious and so energizing and positive... please come back soon Dai!

Next we had Ann and Baxter of Hoop Path join us in February. I don't think I have ever seen two more beautiful people in the hoop. They took it to a whole new level with paddling, isolations, and reversals all strung together with music, myth and a deep sense of spirituality. These workshops sold out and were a huge success!

In February we also had the mind bending Zan Moore join us, whose poi and double staff skills are constantly making you say WHAT!? He warns us in his first video Encyclo-poi-dia to not watch all of the tricks in one session, or a brain meltdown may occur... No joke Zan, my brain did melt. He brings the same joy, love and passion that you see in his performance to his teaching. FYI, he's got something new brewing on the horizon so keep your eyes and ears open.

So what's next? Fire Groove is proud to bring you... Yuta and Thomas (Nevi Soul) in May! Yuta is a master at poi and performing, he is an unbelievable teacher and human being. We are youtube stalkers of this man and I guarantee, you will get a ton of helpful information and new tricks in his workshops. Check out this unique poi performance video. We haven't met Thomas AKA Nevi Soul yet but when his poi video surfaced it went through the Fire Groove spinners like wildfire. Check it out here, and be prepared to have some fun! WeEarth is shaping up for an amazing year! They will be co-producing the Topanga Earth Day Festival on April 18th and 19th which will coincide with the launch of their new sleeker and more dynamic website. Also at the same time they will be opening up a retail storefront in North Hollywood. The most spectacular event on their schedule is the Summer Veggie Oil Bus Tour! They are traveling around the U.S. all summer long promoting conscious lifestyles and sustainability to communities, schools, summer camps, and festivals.
