Fire Groove Rocks Playboy Golf Party

The ladies of Fire Groove stopped the show at the Playboy Golf party at the Roosevelt Hotel in Hollywood with glowing angel wings, blingy hula hoops and shimmering flags. For the first time ever the groovalicous dancers were almost over dressed, surrounded by beautiful and completely naked body painted women. SpinStar Grooveshop Series

Thanks to this years Fire Drums gathering in the Santa Cruz Mountains, many international spinning celebrities are converging in the Los Angeles and San Francisco area. This gives us an opportunity to host a special series of Grooveshops! Join Fire Groove May 10th, 11th & 12th for a series of workshops that focus on breakthrough spinning concepts taught by 9 international spin stars coming from as far as Japan, Scotland, France and Germany!

Birth of a Fire Dancer

It's always a treat to get those phone calls from someone who has seen your video's or a show and you can hear the excitement in their voice as they talk to you about performing at their event. It makes us remember why we do this, turning a show into a creation... a dream rather than just another job. Elena Cardone was one of those people, gushing with excitement and compliments... she said "my husband loves you girls, y'all are hot, but the guy that throws those big fire balls we have to get him too!" She went to to explain that the party was for her husband, Grant Cardone's book release/birthday party. She wanted to transform her beautiful villa into a Moulin Rouge themed party with interactive fire and burlesque entertainment lead by Fire Groove.

When I got home, I had a letter from Elena who wrote, "I want to learn how to fire dance and hoop, looks like a great workout!" I responded with, "if you started learning now, you could be dancing with us by the time her husband's party rolled around in 2 months. Elena said she almost fell off her chair laughing when she read the email. Grant looked at her and said "go for it, you can do it!"

Elena is the kind of woman who knows she can do anything she sets her mind to and so she went for it! She started spinning poi four times a week 2-4 hours a day, she was rocking it! About 2 weeks out from the party we decided it was time to start practicing with fire. Grant came out to film Elena's first light up, which was beautiful. He was so inspired, he decided that he wanted to eat fire! Hannah and I sat down right then and there and gave him a mini lesson... he listened closely, really taking in our instructions on how to eat fire safely and then gave it a shot. Not surprisingly, Grant got it right away! Elena lit up over 30 times over the next few weeks, practicing her routine on fire and nailing it!

The night of the party came and Fire Groove arrived dressed as if they had just stepped out of the Moulin Rouge, from top hats to jewels, pinstripes to curly mustaches... The ladies rocked out two smokin' dance routines to "Diamonds" and "All that Jazz" the men rocked the floor to the "Stray Cat Strut" and the highlight of the evening was when a cloaked figure stood on the floor with all of the Fire Groove dancers. 50 Cent's hit track "In da Club" came blasting out of the speakers and after a few minutes of a high energy hip-hop / burlesque piece... the cloak was dropped to reveal Elena Cardone! The crowd went crazy! She performed her fire poi set flawlessly, in front of 500 friends and family members! What an amazing first performance! Just when you thought you had seen it all, Grant's cake is presented with two huge burning torches. After a rowdy round of Happy Birthday, Grant takes the mic and explains, "Why would you blow fire out... when you can eat it!" and like a pro he takes a flaming torch and surprises the entire party by placing it in his mouth and extinguishing the flame.

Grant and Elena are two of the most beautiful and kind people we have come across. They are generous, encouraging, ambitious and prove everyday, that you can do anything you set your mind too.
