November
/ December, 2007
As 2007 comes to a close, take a moment to reflect
upon this last year. List your greatest accomplishments
and challenges and then think about how you have
been stretched and grown from them. Step outside
of yourself and observe the person you are today
without judgment. Notice positive and negative
habits and routines that have taken root in your
daily life and make a promise to yourself to change
or keep them. Truly accept and give gratitude
to the person you have become.
Think about some personal and career goals that
you'd like to meet next year and write them down.
Tell your friends, family and your partner about
your goals and visualize them happening... get
excited about them! Let go of anything you can
think of that creates negative vibrations in your
life and start 2008 in a clear and confident state
of mind. Make this next year the best one yet!
Happy Holidays,
Fire Groove

| Winter
Yoga Update |
| |
|
Looks
like the winter months
are slowly creeping
into LA which means
that we may actually
see a little rain and
have an outdoor temperature
below 55 degrees Fahrenheit!
Outdoor yoga is a little
too cold if it is below
55 degrees and the sun
is not out. If its 55
degrees and the sun
is shining however,
we will be out on the
hill. So here's scoop...
if the weather is questionable,
go to www.weather.com
and check it out before
coming to class.
55 and below = No yoga
today, take a hike instead
:)
55 and above = Yes,
join us for yoga!
As a rule of thumb,
if it is raining or
sprinkling, we will
not be teaching. We
know this is a little
confusing... but when
it comes down to it
there are only about
10 days out of the year
here in Southern California
that we don't teach
so please... don't let
a little cool weather
fool you. Wear layers,
throw on a hat, bring
some warm socks for
shavasana and you are
ready to roll! Evening
classes are still in
effect, they are now
starting at 4:30 PM
instead of 5:00 PM due
to the time change.
Here's the Juicy ~
Everyday 10:30 - 11:45
am
Monday and Wednesday
- Hannah
Tuesday and Thursday
- Kamala
Friday - Stress
Saturday and Sunday
- Steve
4:30
- 5:30 PM
Tuesday and Thursday
- Jillian

| Andy
in the House |
| |
|
Andy
House from Germany is
one of the finest fire
dancers in the world.
He moves with an awareness
and control that is
rarely seen in the spinning
world today. He is humble,
sincere and patient...
all the perfect qualities
of an excellent teacher.
We caught wind that
Andy was visiting Los
Angeles and convinced
him to teach a few workshop
in poi and meteor. Check
out the interview and
the video below to learn
a little bit about him
and make sure to reserve
your spot in the workshops.
They will fill up fast!

Fire
Groove: How long have
you been fire dancing
and how did you first
get started?
Andy: Next month it
will be five yeas all
together. And I caught
the spinning virus on
Koh Phangan. A friend
of mine was spinning
for me and immediately
I was mesmerized :)
Fire
Groove: Name some ways
that spinning poi changed
your life?
Andy: Difficult to say
since its always a combination
of influences that lead
to a change of life.
But for sure it was
the gateway to explore
movement for me. And
after that I fell in
the arms of the spinning
community which since
then became more and
more a part of my life.
So today some of my
closest friends are
firefreaks like me.
Fire
Groove: What is your
favorite thing about
poi?
Andy: The fact that
they fit in any pocket
or bag.
Fire
Groove: How does the
German society view
fire dancers?
Andy: Not easy to speak
for a society. Just
within the last years
fire dancing became
public. In some ways
Germany is more restricted
concerning regulations
of where in cities it
is allowed to play and
in other ways it seems
more open to me. For
example we don't have
fire marshals or anything
like that.
Fire Groove:
Describe your favorite
fire performance.

Andy: Easy - on the
full moon. No matter
how many people nor
does the place matter.
When the earth is between
the moon and the sun
it is a good time to
spin!
Fire Groove: Name
some of the people who
have inspired your spinning
style.
Andy: First of all Alex,
my initial teacher in
Thailand. Then HOP (Home
of Poi) and the HOP
discussion board which
at that time was more
or less the only online
source for fire spinning
inspiration. Oops, not
a person, but almost!
Prisna from SF whom
I had the honor to meet
in Singapore and of
course Nick Woolsey
who is one of the biggest
ambassadors for the
art of poi (greetings
and hugs in case you
read this.)
Fire Groove:
Do you have any big
plans for 2008?
Andy: Difficult to say
since I try not to make
plans but one of my
big wishes is to go
as far north as possible.
At least once in my
life.

night, Fire Groove rocked
Halloween in Los Angeles
this year! We collaborated
with some of the finest
performers around to create
unique and exciting experiences
for each venue. Let us take
you on a little journey
of a Halloween night with
Fire Groove and Co. |

Bar Sinister
Wandering fire marionettes
Jade Mangiafico, Heather
Garrell and Shawn Barry
threw down several hot
fire shows!
They rocked the indoor
and outdoor stage with
fans,
poi, staff and double
staff. Says Tricia LaBelle
owner of Bar Sinister
& Boardner's " I just
wanted to extend another
truly grateful thank you
for sending over three
of your best fire performers
for Saturday night. So
beautiful and so professional
and honest!"
The
Roosevelt Hotel
Fire
Groove sent the Hells
Belles burlesque dancers
to the Roosevelt Hotel.
Ali Cat, Natasha and Breeza
were a delight to work
with ~ talented, professional
and beautiful! We asked
Sam Gaglini, the party
organizer how they did,
and here's what he said,"
Ali and your troupe looked
amazing, beautiful costumes
and they rocked the party.
I look forward working
with you again!"
The
Key Club
Fire Groove hired over
20 performers to create
this bunch of wild animals!
Fire Groove founders Lester,
Kamala and Hannah along
with Mike, Suzie, Kay,
Rachel, Tina, Alexis and
Tetro worked the flags,
wings and glow poi, staves
and hoops to keep the
party bumpin'. Eros and
his posse, Brianna and
Michael took stilt dancing
to a whole new level.
They could be seen doing
stilt acrobatics, stilt
aerial, and all around
stilt shenanigans! Lexi
and Neal worked the sky
with a mind-blowing display
of aerial
hoop and fabric. And none
of this would have been
possible without our amazing
body painters, Hans Haveron
and Sunev.
Steve Dimon owner of D.A.S.K.
Productions said, "Fire
Groove is my WOW! Factor.
I am always excited about
the surprises they pack
in their shows. They are
the best in the industry!"
