SPRING
2010

After the natural disasters we've witnessed this year,
it's impossible to deny that mother
nature rules above all. With so much changing around
us, sometimes it's easy to withdraw and succumb to fear.
But if there is one thing we've learned here at Fire
Groove, its that community is necessary! There are so
many ways to connect and build community. First of all,
think about what type of activities you really enjoy
and what type of people you want to surround yourself
with.... dancers, yogis, actors, gardeners, musicians,
etc. Then.... connect! With so many amazing social networks
like facebook, myspace and meetup, connecting with like-minded
individuals has never been easier. After you've made
some friends, get involved and create a weekly meeting
or jam session. No matter what the rest of this year
brings, no matter where you were born, what color your
skin is, and how much money you have, we
are all in this together!

This daring art form requires great skill and deep focus as
the fire is almost magically drawn across the body and placed
into the mouth. Fire eating and painting will bring you closer
to the element than ever before, dissolving fear and doubt,
and creating complete confidence and awareness. |

Fire Fans Fans are one of the most graceful forms of fire dancing.
They allow the freedom to incorporate many different styles
of dance and creative expression into a performance. They are
absolutely mesmerizing to watch and so much fun to perform with.

it's all about. In this fun class you'll get a preview
of what we will cover in the 6 week Poi, Staff and Hoop
Groove Basics courses, be inspired by a rockin' performance,
learn a few basic moves in each tool, and go over some

Spin Me Right Round Baby |
Everyone
needs a break from their day-to-day routines... think
of Spin Jam like "recess time". Drop your work
and come out and play! The night kicks off with an all-level
donation based yoga class with Daniel of Black
Market Yoga. Then we transition into the Spin Jam.
The DJ and musicians arrive, the healers arrive, the artists
arrive, the spinners arrive, you arrive, and then........
we create, we play, we dance, we connect! We invite you
to come down to our magical slice of Hollywood to check
it out. What to bring? Art projects, roller skates, soccer
balls, glow toys, hoops, drums, stilts, friends... your
smile.

Fans Workshop
June 8th - 13th
Fans are one of the most graceful forms of fire dancing. They
allow the freedom to incorporate many different styles of dance
and creative expression into a performance. They are absolutely
mesmerizing to watch and so much fun to perform with. In PART
I covers everything you need to know about how to light up safely
including: fuels, extinguishing, dipping, how to be a fire safety,
what to wear, etc. PART II of this workshop we will explore
movement and flow with fans, accenting the body, arm and leg
movement, butterfly moves, weave moves and fan spinning. PART
III you will actually get to light your fans up for the first
time in a very safe setting. More

Eating & Painting
June 10th, 7:00 - 9:00 PM
This daring art form requires great skill and deep focus as
the fire is almost magically drawn across the body and placed
into the mouth. Fire eating and painting will bring you closer
to the element than ever before, dissolving fear and doubt,
and creating complete confidence and awareness. In this workshop
you'll learn how to eat fire, tunnel (blow a small flame out
of your mouth) and transfer the flame from various body parts.
This workshop is perfect for performers who'd like to add
a little something to their repertoire. It's also great for
people who are ready to conquer their fear of the flame. More

Poi
in Paradise
 This
July 18th-25th, 2010, world renowned poi instructor, fire
performer, and our dear friend Zan Moore of the Instruments
Of The Now, will host a special poi workshop in association
with La Escuela Del Sol is Costa Rica!
The poi
retreat will include 6 nights of accommodation at a private
resort, 2 hours of instructional poi every morning and 2 hours
of practice time and personal instruction every afternoon,
M-F. Also included is a waterfall hike, a boat trip to the
beautiful Isla Tortuga with snorkeling, a Friday night fire
show in Montezuma in which you can show off your new moves
in front of a crowd (optional but awesome!), transportation
to town and back each day (only 1 km, but up a steep hill),
some built in down time to hit the beach, canopy tour, go
surfing, etc., and more. More
