FIRE HOOPING WORKSHOP ~ DEC 15th, 7 - 8:30PM
This is a 3 part workshop that includes one in-studio session, a fire safety class, and ends with a special lighting-up ceremony. This workshop will teach you everything you need to know about hooping with fire. The in-studio session will begin by reviewing the material taught in Hoop Groove Basics but with an actual fire hoop. We will focus on which moves are safe to perform with fire and which moves are not safe. You will also learn some of the best ways to begin and end your performance. The fire safety class will cover fuels, what to wear, lighting up and extinguishing, performing, permitting, and much more. The 3-part series ends with a Lighting-Up Ceremony.

Pulling together yogis, fire dancers, healers, artists and more, Daniel Overberger and Fire Groove offer a weekly dose of community gathering in a 3-hour Wednesday evening event. Daniel begins each Wednesday with his all-levels, ashtanga-based Black Market Yoga. The class begins at 7:00pm and is taught on a donation basis (suggested donation $5 or more). At 8:00pm, tea is served and Fire Groove's Spin Jam begins. All are invited to try hooping or watch others hoop, spin poi and staff dance to a weekly DJ. A variety of special guests round out each event, including reiki practitioners, massage therapists, tarot readers and more. It all happens in a 5,000-square foot loft space in Hollywood, also on a donation basis ($5 or more). Daniel of Black Market Yoga and Fire Groove's Kamala Mathis and Hannah Mooney are all part of the core teaching staff at the community-based Runyon Canyon Yoga. Now in its 10th year, Runyon Canyon Yoga offers classes every day of the year (averaging nearly 100 people per class in the warmer months) for whatever donation students wish to leave.

The weekly Black Market Yoga/Fire Groove Spin Jams are held every Wednesday from 7:00 - 10:00 pm at: The Groove Spot, 1110 N. Beachwood Drive, 3rd floor, Hollywood, CA.
